From Mauritius, with love

Posted on April 24, 2012

Sometimes it just amazes me how two people, both from far away places can meet, fall in love and get married! I mean, what are the chances of that happening to most of us?

Well, for Wesley and Kelly, it happened, and boy don’t both of them make such a lovely couple! Wesley came from Mauritius and Kelly from Singapore. They met each other while studying at the National University of Singapore, and I guess some serious sparks must have been ignited because it was obvious that they are so in love with each other!

I met them 3 months before their wedding and I am struck by their friendly and easy going nature. I was also excited because their wedding was to be held at the beautiful Raffles Hotel, which is one place where I have always looked forward to photograph in. On their wedding day, it rained like mad in the morning and we all wondered if the weather would clear before their wedding ceremony. It did, and all those who were present on that day witnessed a beautiful wedding held at The Lawn in Raffles Hotel.

Wesley is a young entrepreneur and he will be going to the States to further develop his business. Kelly will also join him and pursue her further studies there. I think the future looks bright for these 2 lovebirds and I wish them nothing but the very best!

Here are some of my favorite images of the day to share.

Jeremy & Kai Ying

Posted on March 20, 2012

I photographed their solemnisation and engagement session exactly a year ago and how time flew by! Now Jeremy and Kai Ying is officially, undoubtedly, happily married!! Yay!! To me, it felt like I am shooting the wedding of my old friends. I guess not only because we have known each other for some time, but also the fact that they are so easy to talk to, and I can talk about anything under the sun with them!

Congratulations guys, I am truly happy for you!

This thing called love

Posted on March 8, 2012

When Sean and Adeline told me that they are not very good at posing for pictures during their engagement shoot a while back, I remember telling them to just enjoy themselves and not to worry about how they look. In fact, they are not the only ones who have shared this with me, and this is hardly surprising because how many couples also happen to be models? They are just normal folks with all the usual cares and concerns of daily life like you and me, but they have one thing that makes all the difference, and this one thing is all that I need to create the images that you see here.

Call me a romantic, but I truly believe that love is the most powerful thing in the universe, and a couple in love needs no posing, simply because beauty follows them everywhere, from the way they gaze into each other’s eyes, to the way they gently hold each other.

And I think Sean and Adeline has no lack of this thing called love from the way the images turn out, and I really look forward to their wedding in a month’s time!

Spending chinese new year in Bahrain

Posted on February 1, 2012

Yup, that’s what the missus and I did over the recent lunar new year holidays. We decided to get away from all the festivities going on and visit our friend in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Tree of Life at sunset

Tucked away in the Persian Gulf, situated next to Saudi Arabia and surrounded by sea water lies the island of Bahrain. It’s size is quite similar to that of Singapore. While  Singapore is elongated east to west, the longest part of Bahrain island stretches from north to south. Like Singapore, it takes just about an hour to drive from one end to another end. Its population is however just a quarter that of Singapore.

When we were there, it was winter, and lucky for us, the ideal time to visit the country. During the day it was a cool 18 degrees but I was told in summer temperatures can soar up to more than 50 degrees celsius with humidity of more than 90%!

Being our first time in Bahrain, or rather first time to the middle east for that matter, it was a new experience for us to visit the region. We were also so well taken care of by our hosts that we were truly spoilt and were so reluctant to leave towards the end. We leave behind some beautiful memories and I would like to share with you some images from the country. We hope that the tourism industry would further develop in Bahrain as it really is a beautiful place to visit!

The images below shows the hotel that we stayed, the National Museum of Bahrain and some street scenes

We also visited some old houses that were restored in the city of Muharraq, the third largest city in Bahrain. You can also see the Tree of Life – one of Bahrain’s main attractions, captured during sunset. The Tree of Life is so called because it stands as the only tree in the desert far from other trees, and where it obtains water to survive has always remained a mystery. Finally, before we departed, we had a stopover at Arad Fort, one of Bahrain’s 4 defensive forts still preserved to this day.
