Somehow, I feel that christmas this year seemed to be somehat muted compared to previous years. Perhaps 2008 has been a turbulent and eventful year for the world around us. We’ve seen many unfortunate and tragic events unfold within the last 12 months, and I think many of us are entering 2009 with a sense of trepidation, especially in the midst of the financial turmoil around us.

I had the privilege to shoot this year’s christmas concert in my church. It was encouraging to see the people who had prepared hard for this event working together to bring out the message of christmas during these uncertain times. One thing for sure, the message of christmas remains the same no matter what the circumstance!

Q. What is this engagement shoot about? I’m already engaged to my partner!

A. An engagement shoot typically means a photo session where the photographer gets to know more about the couple, and vice versa, by means of a casual photo session. The shoot is meant to be informal, relaxed and fun.

Q. Why provide this shoot free? Is there any catch to it?

A. Nope, there is no catch to it. This is purely a time limited offer where I provide an extra bit of service to my clients when they sign up with me.

Q. What will I get at the end of the shoot?

A. You will get a CD containing all the wonderful shots taken and it will be given to you along with your AD wedding package deliverables.

Q. What do we need to prepare for the engagement shoot?

A. Just wear something comfy and bright, and enjoy yourselves!

Sometimes I do get an assignment that is different from the usual weddings and things wedding related. I kinda look forward to these as it offers me a chance to shoot something that is refreshing (not to say shooting weddings are stale haha). So it was with a sense of anticipation that I went for little Nathan’s one year old birthday dinner shoot a few nights ago. His birthday is significant as Nathan shares his birthday with his mummy!

We wanted to have an outdoor shoot before the dinner, but unfortunately, the skies poured and so the shoot has to be postponed. Nevertheless, it was still fun seeing the various cute expressions on Nathan’s face as you will see in the following pictures!

Over last weekend, I attended the kindergarten graduation concert of my friend’s children. All the kids were decked in colorful clothes, preparing for their performance items, and there were excited chatter and buzz from the kids and their parents all around.

When my friend’s daughter, Rowena (girl in blue), appeared on stage, we noticed that she looked funny. After sometime, to our amused horror, this was what happened!

Rowena was whisked off the stage promptly by the alert teachers and my friend went to ask what happened. She found out that just before the performance, Rowena was scolded by a teacher for hitting another child. My friend brought her to see the teacher and told Rowena to apologise to her, and said the teacher will sayang her after that. Well, she did and after a very short while, Rowena forgot all about the incident and was back to her usual cheeky self!
