If you met Shawn for the first time, one of the first things you may notice about him is that he seldom smiles. This was what I realised when I first met him and Abigile. However, beneath his cool demeanour, I gradually discovered that he is actually a very genuine and nice guy.
As for Abigile, I have also come to realise that she is a sweet and warm natured girl thru the conversations that we have during our shoots. So I am very happy for being able to witness their solemnisation and to see them start their lives together.
They tied the knot at the Changi Village Hotel last Saturday. Their solemnisation took place at the hotel rooftop – at the 8th level next to a swimming pool. When the lift doors opened, I was almost taken aback by the beautiful and scenic venue. It was a most lovely place, and I would never have imagined to find such a nice place – at the rooftop of the hotel!
What impressed me more, was the effort they put in to make the day really special. From the intricately hand crafted vows they made for each other, to the delighful wedding favours they prepared for the guests. It was all very thoughtful and very nice! I hope you will get to feel a little bit of these elements from the images below.

It was just under 2 months ago when I did an engagement session with Gavin & Faith. Fast forward to last weekend, and it was the day of their solemnisation! The day before, the weather was really bad and I think no one was more worried than the both of them thinking about how the weather would be like on their special day. Thankfully, the weather was just great and everything turned out well, and we even had time for a little photoshoot around the area.
Their solemnisation took place at the very quaint Beaulieu House at Sembawang park. Set on a hill overlooking the Johor Straits, the resturaunt offers a great sea view and is surrounded by lush greenery. Very nice!

Many a times, as photographers, we strive to capture an image with the most “feeling”, taken with the most beautiful lighting, with the most natural of expressions. But what is the most important thing that you look out for in an image where you appear in it? Isn’t it beauty?
An image can contain the most natural of expressions, taken using the most gorgeous lighting, but if you don’t look beautiful in it, then perhaps that image is not good enough.
Imagine an image of you in sunset at a beach, hugging and laughing with your hubby to be. The scenery is great, the light from the setting sun is fantastic, both of you are just laughing in your most natural self. However, your gums are showing, your nostrils flaring and your eyes squinting. Now, would you still like this image? Perhaps not as much as you would like to!
This insight, as well as other interesting and exciting aspects of wedding photography was covered yesterday, during a Jerry Ghionis seminar. It was a full day event held at Marina Mandarin, and boy was it an eye opener! Jerry is regarded as one of the world’s top wedding photographers and I was really fortunate to be able to attend it. It was truly a great experience and I will be looking to apply what I have learnt. So you guys out there are in luck!
