There are times when I meet couples who are just especially easy to shoot. And when I meet such a couple, I really cherish the moments photographing them.

I got to know Louis and Baozhu just a month ago. My first impression about them was that they are pretty easy going folks. And they were really very kind to invite me to join them for lunch after their solemnisation. Now, that does not mean couples who don’t do that are not kind… but you know what I mean :P

Their solemnisation was a very nice, private affair for both their families at Peony Jade. It was a very simple ceremony without the usual fanfare, but I could sense the sincerity of it all, especially when Louis and Baozhu exchanged their vows. I believe those that were there to witness this event appreciated that.

We really had a whale of a time shooting around the area before and after the ceremony. I just wished we had more time!

One of the things that I love about my job is that from time to time, I get to go to places that either I did not know it exists, or I did not know it could look so nice. It probably points to the fact that there are in fact, many nice little places in our little island that is waiting to be discovered. It also means that I need to go out more often!

Eric and Julia chose to have their solemnisation ceremony take place at Flutes at the Fort. Hidden and tucked behind the Central Fire Station, this is one place that you need to know, before you know where to find it! It is an old bunglow (apparantly the Fire Chief’s home) that has been converted into a quaint and lovely restaurant.

The place is perfect for private functions and it is absolutely a fantastic location for Eric and Julia’s solemnisation. It was a cosy affair with all their family members and close friends. The atmosphere was really warm and friendly, and it was truly an enjoyable experience witnessing their wedding.

Mark and Serene’s solemnisation took place at the Villa Bali. When I first heard about the place, I thought (being the sua ku that I am) I would be going to somewhere in Bali!

The Villa Bali is tucked away near Alexandra road, and it is a very nice, rustic and charming venue, perfect for your private functions. Its predominantly Balinese decor greets you once you step in, almost transporting you to another part of the world. Did I mention that the food was really nice as well?

Mark got to know Serene under quite interesting circumstances… via Facebook!  I was really amused when they told me about this. I guess online encounters does end up happily for some lucky people!

In the short time that I got know the two lovebirds, I realise that Mark is an approachable and really cool dude, while Serene really has the sweetest smile. This killer combination really made my job so much easier and fun, and I really enjoyed myself as I witnessed their special day!

I declare Mark the winner of the funniest face contest!

Maoxuan and Yanhong met all the way back since their school days. They remained in touch, and in love even when Yanhong went to Australia to further her studies. Whenever I hear of such “marathon” relationships maturing into marriage, I just could not help feeling happy for the couple!

So it is with a sense of joy that I witnessed their solemnisation thru my lenses 2 weeks back. Here are some highlights of the evening!

We managed to sneak out during dinner to take some shots…

If you met Shawn for the first time, one of the first things you may notice about him is that he seldom smiles. This was what I realised when I first met him and Abigile. However, beneath his cool demeanour, I gradually discovered that he is actually a very genuine and nice guy.

As for Abigile, I have also come to realise that she is a sweet and warm natured girl thru the conversations that we have during our shoots. So I am very happy for being able to witness their solemnisation and to see them start their lives together.

They tied the knot at the Changi Village Hotel last Saturday. Their solemnisation took place at the hotel rooftop – at the 8th level next to a swimming pool. When the lift doors opened, I was almost taken aback by the beautiful and scenic venue. It was a most lovely place, and I would never have imagined to find such a nice place – at the rooftop of the hotel!

What impressed me more, was the effort they put in to make the day really special. From the intricately hand crafted vows they made for each other, to the delighful wedding favours they prepared for the guests. It was all very thoughtful and very nice! I hope you will get to feel a little bit of these elements from the images below.

The vows that they wrote for each other, lovingly crafted by each of them, for each of them
